My dear brothers and sisters,the world is celebrating Easter Sunday marked by the Resurrection of Lord JESUS CHRIST. Lord JESUS had already prophesied about HIS death,burial and resurrection. In this article we shall see in short the purpose of resurrection of our Lord JESUS CHRIST.
1)It was an act of prophetic fulfillment. Many scriptures had already prophesied about the birth,crucification,burial and resurrection of our Lord JESUS CHRIST.Bible says in Job 19:23-27
“Oh, that my words were written!
Oh, that they were inscribed in a book!
That they were engraved on a rock
With an iron pen and lead, forever!
For I know that my Redeemer lives,
And He shall stand at last on the earth;
And after my skin is destroyed, this I know,
That in my flesh I shall see God,
Whom I shall see for myself,
And my eyes shall behold, and not another.
How my heart yearns within me!”
Yes this prophecy was fulfilled when Lord rose from the dead on the third day.
2) 1 Corinthians 15:17-19 says
And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.
The work of the Cross was appropriated on the resurrection day of our Lord JESUS CHRIST.The power of resurrection provides us not only the hope for this world but also for eternity.Our faith lies on the fact and the truth that Lord JESUS CHRIST our father was resurrected and gave us new hope and faith that our redeemer lives forever more.
3) 1 Corinthians 15:20-23
But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order: Christ the first-fruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming
By reading the above verses we notice that not only the sin but the consequences of sin was taken away after Lord JESUS rose from the dead.Resurrection of our Saviour destroyed the fangs of death and as sin was transferred to whole of mankind so was HIS resurrection in whom those who believe in HIM.
4) Luke 24:50,51
And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.
As per Galatians 3:13,14 Lord JESUS CHRIST destroyed the curses on the Cross but the blessing was imparted as the last act of Lord JESUS CHRIST.Before parting to HIS eternal abode, Lord JESUS CHRIST stretched out HIS hands and blessed HIS disciples.It is not enough that we are delivered from the bondage of Egypt but we must enter the promised land of Canaan.Similarly deliverance of curses is the beginning but the blessing of Lord JESUS CHRIST makes us complete. This act was only completed after the resurrection and home ascension of our father Lord JESUS CHRIST.
5)1 Corinthians 15:16
“… For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen.”
The power of resurrection through Lord JESUS CHRIST gives us the hope that one day our mortal bodies will also be resurrected through the Holy Spirit, otherwise our faith is in vain and so is our believing and preaching.
Romans 8:11 says
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
It is the Holy Spirit who has the true power of resurrection.The same Holy Spirit who raised JESUS will also raise us up with HIM if HE(Holy Spirit) dwells in us.
My friends there are so many reasons that why JESUS died and rose again but in this article we have just studied five major points.God will reveal more to you as you search the scriptures and meditate on them.
