THE GREAT COMMANDMENT
Matthew 22:37
Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.”
My friends when According to John 3:16 GOD loved us and JESUS died for us, then why did HE tell in the above verse to love the Lord GOD with everything in us? Some people think that it was only for the Jews because JESUS came to fulfill the law while others think that this commandment is in the Old Testament i.e. a part of Old Covenant and when in New Testament JESUS gave this commandment HE till that time had not gone to the Cross and had therefore New Covenant was not in force, so some assume that only consider the Words of JESUS after the Cross as HIS WORDS before the Cross and Resurrection were for not everyone but especially those under the law. My friends the words of Lord JESUS are eternal and the one’s in the Bible have some meaning/revelation. Let us see some of the benefits of this first and foremost commandment which was first given in Old Testament and Repeated in New by our Father Lord JESUS CHRIST.
When we Love the Lord our God we get the following blessings,(Just few verses out of many):-
1)If anyone loves the Lord this one is known by HIM and God recognizes us(1 Corinthians 8:3)
2)Grace be with all those who love the Lord JESUS CHRIST in sincerity (Ephesians 6:24)-When we Love the Lord the Grace increases upon our lives.
3)When we love our Lord God JESUS CHRIST –The Father God and The Son Lord JESUS CHRIST will us more and also Reveal and Manifest themselves to us(John 14:21)
4)When we love Lord God ,Lord JESUS CHRIST will come and abide with us
5)When we love our Lord JESUS CHRIST our sins are forgiven-(John 21:15-18,Luke 7:47)
6)We are drawn nearer to the Kingdom of God when we Love God(Mark 12:32-34)
7)All things work for Good when we Love God(Romans 8:28)
